StudentFilmmakers.com is proud to present and host the 3D RED Cinematography Workshop with Rexford Metz, ASC, which will be held on Saturday, December 4th, 9:30am to 3:30pm, and Sunday, December 5th, 9:30am to 3:30pm in the exciting, cinematic city of New York, at the StudentFilmmakers.com Manhattan Workshop Studio.
The workshop will use the same 3D set up for "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie production, complete hands on 3D experience with 2 RED cameras, Element Technica 3D Sled and controls, and Cine Stereo DIT. There is also a discussion of 1950s 3D to Avatar and beyond.
An Academy Award-winning, veteran cinematographer and one of only 250 active members worldwide with the ASC designation, Rexford Metz, ASC has worked with Hollywood’s finest directors and actors. He is widely known and well-respected for his artistry and for the quality of his work. As an ASC member, Metz has a passion giving back to the industry by teaching others the craft. He currently teaches at Florida State University School Film School. His goal is to mentor the students and give them the confidence, knowledge and courage to succeed in the field he loves.

Stereoscopic Vision Basic
How we see in 3D and how the camera reproduces it.
3D Cinematography
3D recording, convergence distance, lenses, and filters, physiological limits, postproduction and displaying techniques.
Handling the professional Stereo 3D Rig(s)
Setting up and calibrating the rig, setting up and synchronizing cameras, setting up 3D parameters on the rig, 3D rig motorisation, modularity.
Stereoscopic Post Production Overview
Editing, synchronisation in post, color matching, calibration in post.
Rexford Metz, ASC Metz has vast experience shooting Drama, Comedy, Action, Aerials, Underwater, Stunts and Visual FX Photography.
