Birds Eye View Film Festival 2011: Opening Night Gala

  • In BEV tradition a dazzling short film line-up showcases new international work, offering a glimpse of the world's best emerging women filmmakers, with many alumni going on to awards and acclaim; plus a taste of the Festival's live music programme.



    Featuring special guest BAFTA and Olivier Award-winning actress Dame Eileen Atkins (Upstairs Downstairs, Cranford, Gosford Park).



    Followed by a party for all ticket-holders in BFI Southbank's Delegate Centre, featuring a performance by multi-award-winning composer and DJ Shiva Feshareki. A former BBC Proms/Guardian Young Composer of the Year, Shiva's work has been performed at The Barbican, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Roundhouse, among others; and by world-class ensembles such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Contemporary Orchestra and Philharmonia.

    Every day, 100 year-old Micky swims with her local bathing club. This beautifully simple account of her extraordinary life won the 2010 Cannes Short Film Jury Prize.
