Upgrading sound capture
I wasn't too concerned with capturing sound for my first film last summer - and simply used the camera's built-in microphone for everything. That came back to haunt me in post production when several interivews were recorded much lower than how I recall the sound while standing in the room. For my second film that begins shooting June 8, I'm finally investing in a boom mic system. Any opinions on my choice - here's a link to the ebay item. With this same company, I had a choice of two mic brands - Azden or Audio Technica. In both cases, the included mic is the manufacturer's lower end model; I decided to go with this item, which includes the Audio Technica brand. Shooting lots of dialogue in small rooms with two to four characters; but have some outdoor shots with 200 extras in the background, but always capturing dialogue from two to four characters at a time standing in a group. Hope this works.
