When you shot the answering machine sequence you used a freeze frame, didn't you? :) I would avoid that, I know you have a tripod because you panned a few times. I noticed that because it started as handheld and then freezed suddenly. I would have noticed it even if it was a picture, people normally do because the grain in the footage is still (in normal footage it "moves randomly").
I liked the story, I liked your way of directing: it was simple, and I think you'll get better on each of your projects (just like everybody). It really showed your passion for filmmaking. Plus, your two main actors were really really good, I suggest to work with them in the future, good actors are rare, trust me. Develop a special relationship with them and keep it.
I think you did a very good job with the short film. I hope that what I said helped you. If you need any help, both in words or "acts" (color-correction, review of the screenplays etc. anything I can work on) feel free to ask.
Hi Steph, I'll try to review your short film now. First thing, it was a good first effort. It had a few issues that I will discuss now, but it demonstrated that you have a true passion for this.
Okay, the thing you should work on better is the audio. There are too many "jumps" between the cuts, it makes the viewing a bit difficult. I suggest you to record the sound of the environment of each and every location (in Italian it's called "presa a vuoto", don't know how to say it in English) so that you can make better cuts (speaking of sound). Try to adjust the volume a bit better too, there are times in which I didn't get what the actor said very well because it was covered by the music or, more often, by the noise. Maybe a better microphone will improve that without too much bothering.
As you said, you should leave more space between "Action!" and "Cut!", sometimes the editing "jumps" a bit too much. When the guy takes a look at the egg you do something that shouldn't be done: I don't remember the English expression, it's something like "180 degree line crossing", there was an interesting article about that on the mag a couple of months ago. Look for that on Google, it's a very important thing you should learn.
Well I’m glad you’re praying for me! I’m really appreciated. I’ve been waiting so long for these days when someone like you enjoy my music, use it and pray for me! I know God has a purpose with my life! I’ll never get tired of saying thank you!!
hehe, having real fun with Blender I see. I still have to install it, but from the forums I read, you are not the only one pulling out your hair trying to figure it out..I guess there got to be something difference between the free wares and the $6000 ones..
