hi there:
I just wanted to ask all of you if you happen to know the drill when it comes to asking a major studio for permission to shoot and distribute a tiny clip of one of their films within a short film I'm already working on. Is it a dead issue, or do I have a chance at getting their permission, how do I do it and how long will it take for me to get a response from them?

Hi there, my name's Adam Easton, I'm 26, based in north London. I'm a composer for Tv and film. I'm coming to the end of an MA in Composition for Screen at the Royal College of Music, and I have experience conducting orchestras in live sessions as well as arranging music for TV. Production Assistant required for shoot this Sunday (21st Feb).

Hello, we need a production assistant (with their own car) this coming Sunday for an all-day shoot. We'll be shooting a taster for a comedy show; unfortuantely we don't have a budget and therefore cannot offer any payment. However, we're filming with a big production company, so a good opportunity for introductions and a CV credit.

Will need somone to:
Pick up/drop off crew and performers.
Help with transporting props.
Assist cameraman with anything he needs.
General assistance with wardrobe, catering...
Basically an all-rounder who would be happy to assist wherever they're needed. We're a nice team looking for somone enthusiastic and positive who can take direction well.

We’ve partnered up with MASTERPIECE Classic, and have launched The Video Diary Open Call (http://www.thewgbhlab.org/masterpiece), inspired by The Diary of Anne Frank. We’re asking you, young media makers (ages 13 and up), to submit video diaries telling us about your lives – specifically areas where certain aspects of intolerance may be involved. We want to know how you overcome being bullied or disrespected for the way you look, think, or for what you believe in.

Portions of the diaries submitted may be selected for broadcast on MASTERPIECE Classic’s PBS airing of The Diary of Anne Frank on April 11th, 2010.

I have scored various projects from short "clips" (1-5 minutes) / videogames to movies screened in cinemas (about two hours of music) - from small-romantic to big-epic and action scenes.
I am always trying to deliver suitable soundtrack in a short amount of time (there is no problem in composing last minute scores and adapting the music directly to the picture - even if last minute changes are made).

Producer Needed for Feature

I am looking for a producer for the “no budget” feature movie I will be directing this year. The right person needs to be in the Los Angeles area or willing to travel to the area. Obviously, since the budget is low there is no upfront pay. However, there will be a percentage of profits if there are any of course. This is a good opportunity for someone building their producer resume. I will raise the budget myself. Hi there, Anyone have any information about good workshops or short courses (up to 1 year maximum) for studying film (production, theory, editing etc) in New York?

I am from New Zealand and have just completed a degree in communication studies majoring in digital media and would like to focus on film production/directing.

Format for a TV docu-series promo?

Hi,
We're currently working on getting a TV docu-series (travel show) proposal put together. As part of this, others have convinced us that we would be well-served shooting a short, promotional "teaser" trailer for the show. For both financial and practical reasons, we've decided to shoot it on my current camcorder, which is a nice 3 CCD camcorder, but not hi-def. It does have a very good-quality anamorphic wide-screen mode, though. I'm thinking we should shoot in this mode, though I've heard (and experienced a bit) that this format can be troublesome to burn to DVD for presentation. Any thoughts on whether we should shoot in widescreen or 4/3 format? Would production company and TV execs frown more on the low-def in standard or widescreen? I just don't have time to learn or finances to purchase a good hi-def camera just for this promotional short, and we leave to begin shooting quite soon. Thanks for any input.

NYC Pro. Co. Seeks EFX Whiz 4 Groundbreaking Film

We are a NYC-based production company with pro facilities & equipment involved in a film project that is sure to make waves in the film community.

We are in need of that special student filmmaker who really knows special efx (preferably Adobe CS3) & how to apply them. This film is currently in post-production. We are now adding the "sweetening" (i.e. special efx).

We have high-end contacts who have already invested in this project & are anxiously awaiting its completion due to other projects submitted.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone in the NYC area who needs an outlet for their visionary effects ideas, but has no or limited equipment to execute these ideas. Also a great opportunity to link up with someone heading straight to the top fast in both the film & music industries.
