by Michael Palombo Not to ditch on the Santa Fe Film Festival, but we offered them this technology, and we told them it would make for a greener planet, it looks like they listened to us on the eWaste part, but didn't listen to us on the higher quality streaming video for our New Mexico Filmmakers. Does the Quicktime player qualify as streaming video? I'm not sure, but I know if I had a great film I wouldn't show it on a Quicktime player, and who's hosting the video? can you trust the server is it secure, how big is the server, and who does the server belong to? all these question everybody should be asking. If your not asking these question, you must not really care. Look I don't no much about streaming video, but I Know that the quicktime player still has a file buffer skip! skip that's not a quality way to view a film. Look the truth is there are a lot of sites claiming to have streaming video, but there is a lot of things their not telling you, like their streaming video is buffered. This is where I tell you about a streaming video platform with no buffer and higher res and what if I told you the platform was deep underground in the Uta mountains protected by a solid wall of granite, now that sounds secure! The quicktime server could be in some body's house, and who's their host, how secure is that,, O yea I was going to tell you about this awesome platform that was built by companies like Disney, and only a small hand full of companies have a piece of, like Move Network. The same quality of video that Opra is streaming, Opra's not using a quicktime player, she's using high quality no buffering streaming video. Where did she get it, and how much did it cost. well I'm sure it cost a lot or she new somebody, but the truth is that kind of access is available to the little guy, and it's been made possible by a company that I'm not going to tell you about, because they don't want me to, they want me to make sure that you go threw me first because you have to know somebody to gain access to this sweet player, and the best part is you can have your channel for free and if you want the pay/per/view function/propay and now offering paypal so go get your free high quality no buffering streaming video for free at my website BIG WINDOW VIDEO ps get involved with our growing network of filmmakers but you have to sign up first

United States of America (Press Release) September 22, 2007 -- Santa Fe, New Mexico – “According to the EPA the United States produces 2 million tons of eWaste every year which is one reason we support and encourage filmmakers to submit their films on line, rather then sending DVDS which ends up as eWaste”, said Stephen Rubin of the Santa Fe Film Festival. “Unfortunately, the initiative was delayed so we decided to extend the submission deadline to September 26 for filmmakers who may have missed the deadline, as a way of building momentum for on line submissions for next year, green filmmaking and empowering filmmakers with the opportunity to acquire their own distribution channel”, continued Rubin.
When asked how filmmakers can submit on line and get their own high quality distribution platform, Rubin explained, “Filmmakers just need to go to http://santafefilmfestival.com/Online_Submissions and watch a short video presentation using the same technology they’ll use to submit, or distribute their films and then enter their contact information and we will call them back and step them through the process. When asked about the broadcast technology, Rubin said; “The technology is absolutely fantastic. First the quality is the best I have ever seen! Second it is a stream, so there is no risk to filmmakers’ distribution rights and third it is a no buffering technology. This means that filmmakers can submit a film of any length and once it starts to play it will finish without any need to pause in the middle. The technology is truly extraordinary”.
“We really believe that there are two major trends in independent filmmaking; 1) green filmmaking and 2) empowering independent filmmakers with the ability to take control over their films distribution. We believe that by adopting this technology that the Santa Fe Film Festival is taking a leadership position in both areas”.
Any filmmaker interested in submitting their film on line and beating the September 26 deadline, and getting control over their distribution channel can learn more by going to the Santa Fe Film Festival website at http://www.santafefilmfestival.com/ and click on the “submit and distribute films on line” banner at the bottom of the page.

'Significant shipping issues' haunt Netflix's deliveries New Mexico Business WeeklyNetflix Inc. has been experiencing “significant shipping issues” since Tuesday, and the DVD rental company continues to have problems Thursday morning. “We were able to ship some DVDs from about half of our distribution centers yesterday but we haven’t yet been able to resume shipping this morning,” Andy Rendich, interim head of operations and vice president of IT development for the Los Gatos, Calif. company, said in a blog posting Thursday. “Our engineers continue to work around the clock to restore normal operations. In the meantime, we’re notifying affected customers via personal email and we’ve posted a notice on the Netflix Web site.” On Tuesday, Rendich said in the Netflix Community Blog that “members who should have been shipped a DVD today will automatically receive a credit to their accounts.” Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) has a distribution center in Albuquerque.

Cineplex Speaking of distribution, Duke City Shootout founder Anthony DellaFlora has partnered with local information technology businessman Dan Latrimurti to create a new company aimed at proving online distribution for independent filmmakers. Launched just this month, the Filmmakers Channel (www.thefilmmakerschannel.com) hopes to give the thousands of filmmakers who may never get their movies screened in a theater or on TV the chance to get their work out to the world. DellaFlora admits there are a lot of online movie distribution sites these days, but insists his is different because it puts the welfare of the filmmaker first. The Filmmakers Channel will feature a streaming, non-buffering video platform for movies that can include a pay-per-view option. Filmmakers will pay a monthly fee for broadcast minutes and channels, starting as low as $10 a month. The Filmmakers Channel has also partnered with Albuquerque filmmakers Rob Ellis and Michael Palumbo (producers of the video Got Art) to create a sister site, Big Window Video (www.big-window-video.com), which will provide educational tutorials teaching people how to write screenplays, shoot on green screens and use the latest digital video equipment. Currently, three short documentaries by DellaFlora and his partners are available through the Filmmakers Channel. Stay tuned (so to speak) for additional content.

Surveys have shown that when given the option the consumer will support the local small business if cost isn't an issue.
There is an opportunity here to capitalize on a trend that we haven't seen the likes of since the inception of cable networks.
A workable model in the future might look like this: a crew of ten on the set many of whom will take acting roles, and three or four producers similar to groups like Kids in the Hall, or Monty Python, but technology has gotten so light and available as to open up more genre'. They will most likly be shooting in a small studio with green screen technology creating from start to finish in house stories to market directly to the consumer. The production company would employ others to promote the film and using blogs and social networking tools create a fan base with steady contact through a mail list.
