We've been accepted!!!
Posted On 05/14/2008 23:50:17

Our new film we're finishing up, "At the Foot of a Tree" has just been accepted into the  IFP Rough Cut Lab!  An early trailer for the film can be found here.  It is a nontraditional film about love, family, and revenge.  This is an amazing opportunity for us, as the last film we finished, "His Highness Hollywood" is having problems finding distribution.  We think we have a very good chance at Sundance this year!

More work!

Well, I just got home from shooting the Cinema Eye Honors Documentary Awards at the IFC Center in NYC. I'm also the 2nd Unit Director for a Hollywood film shooting next month in Atlanta. The documentary by NY Times Bestselling Author Ian Halperin I have just finished editing is being premiered on the 25th (everyone is invited, check the Events). We are almost done with the rough cut for the drama "At the Foot of a Tree" shot in the oldest town in England last summer (old trailer on my page here). Its really looking good! A reality show project I'm working on is in negotiations with ABC to be picked up. Another reality show is garnering lots of interest by Viacom. The subject of my documentary "Papa's Branch" just performed on the Oscars and was nominated for his performance in Disney's "Enchanted," and he got a meeting with Oprah to talk about getting it mentioned on her show. I really need to get some sleep!!!!

Too many projects???
Posted On 06/19/2007 17:35:41
I've just been retained to edit a new feature that is in pre-production right now called "At The Foot of a Tree". The film is slated to shoot in England next month. I will edit in September/October. I can't say much about the plot right now, as it is confidential, but suffice it to say that it will be a BIG SURPRISE to everyone when they see it. Do I hear Oscar buzz??? hehe...

Friday I shot a campaign video for Hillary Clinton, and Sunday I shot steadicam concert footage for "A Prayer For Hip Hop" documentary.

I still haven't had a chance yet to work on my own projects. I have two I wish to submit to P.O.V. by their deadline next week and I have not yet had a chance to start the re-edit yet. I have another in-concert piece to create for the premiere of "Workin' on a Building" next month as well as the re-edit of "Papa's Branch." Marlon is coming over tomorrow to record the VO track yet I have not yet written what he will say!

I hate to say it, but I miss the times when I was able to just sleep on the couch for weeks, watching "Star Trek" reruns. There is the possibility I will leave this summer to shoot another doc abroad. I still have to edit a feature length documentary about musicians in Africa, which I haven't had a chance to work on yet. All this work, and I'm not rich yet. Well, it will come soon. At least I'm beginning to get a little famous. :)

Two new things...

I just got another gig for Sunday, taping a Christian hiphop concert for a music documentary. This after spending 5 1/2 hours yesterday filming a political ad for Hillary Clinton yesterday and not sleeping for 3 days to finish a band promo for Latin singer Gemma Genzanno.

I'm getting too busy to do my own stuff. I need to re-edit Papa's Branch and come up with new vo dialogue for Marlon to say for our recording session next week. The new edit must be flawless, as many press and celebrities will be in attendance. The show is "Workin On A Building" in NYC on July 27. The info is in the Events page. Hope to see some of you there!

If you are in the New York/New Jersey area and a filmmaker, hit me up! I'm always looking for partners on new projects!

More stuff

Well, I'm editing another promo for another band. I'm doing the titles in AE and they are looking GOOD! However, it is hard to motivate myself to do much of this grunt work. Its great to create, but it takes so much time... I'd rather be out there with my camera in the thick of things...

Something I shot 2 weeks ago for Lime.com is up now. It is broken into two segments:

Chef Bobo

Sneaky Chef

Some of you may have heard of the Sneaky Chef. She has a book on the NY Times Bestseller List right now.

We are also having a New York Premiere of one of my docs, Papa's Branch. We are in negotiations to distribute it nationwide. It is part of a jazz experience, created by Marlon Saunders. It is open to the public, July 27, 7:30 pm at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Symphony Space, 95th & Broadway.

We plan on having MANY celebrities and paparazzi there. Read more about it here: Workin

Hope some of you can make it!

Another day another dollar

Well just got back from another last minute shoot. I got an email on Wed. asking if I could shoot this project this week. This was a 2 camera shoot for Lime.com with Joanne Colon, the host of Rocketboom.com. We shot her talking to this gourmet chef who works at a private school in Manhattan. Its all about how it IS possible to give good food that is not fattening to children on a limited budget. The whole thing will be uploaded next week on Lime.com. Tomorrow, we're interviewing "The Sneaky Chef" thesneakychef.com for a related article, also to be posted on Lime.com. Its not the most interesting work, but it pays the bills, and we also got free food from a chef from this world famous cooking school (I don't remember which one).

What am I doing?

Hey, just wanted to give my first update here. I am currently working on two tv shows, one of them I am co-owner/producer of, the other one I am a dp. I just spent all day yesterday reading the technical requirements for PBS submissions. They can be found here: http://www.pbs.org/producers/redbook/specs/index.html Very detailed and very specific.

At least after reading that I know all I need to know about show formats, audio leveling requirements, legal voltages, hd formats, show formats, sponsor tags, bugs, bumpers, and teasers. This is the first series that I'll have aired after having some other documentaries broadcast, and it is much different. If you are working on a tv series its helluva lot of work, but its also a rewarding experience to be able to point to the TV Guide and say, "this is my show!"

I also got married last month to a wonderful woman named Jody. She is an amazing woman and the only person in the world to me. I won't submit you all to the obligatory wedding photos, though, so you can relax.
