Does Art Follow Form or Form Follow Art?
Posted On 08/12/2008 12:41:53

Last night I watched “In the Heat of the Night” staring
Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger with the cinematographer Haskell Wexler http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005549/

This DVD has a very interesting look at Filmmaking in the Mid 1960s and comments about shooting it by Haskell Wexler in the special features section. This is a great movie that you can learn from. I suggest watching it for the cinematography and for the statements it makes about the social racial tensions and changing attitudes climate of the time and the risks the producers, directors and actors take in the making of it. While shooting in the south Sidney kept a gun under is pillow at the Holiday Inn in real life. That was the only place the allowed him to stay. This is one of those kinds of works that makes me think about the old question does art follow form or does form follow art. I wonder what effect this had on the world and the attitudes of the people who live in it and what affect the world had on the making of it. Watch it.

Back in NYC
Posted On 04/17/2008 12:02:47

I am back in nyc and working on the magazine and websites. I have to send out statements for the advertisers. Please visit and use our sponsors. When you use them know we have more funds to add more things to the site and do more with the magazine. Let all manufactors and rental houses know how awsome our magazine and website are and let them know that you use our site and read the magazine. Even though our magazine is as big and well loved or more than most of the film and video magazines most manufactors don't seem to know or care to find out that we have more serious filmmakers than most magazines and we have way more visitors to our site than they do. We don't have the shrewed sales people most all of the other magazines have working for them. Please help us by giving us a shout out when you buy or rent.

Working Sunday
Posted On 03/30/2008 14:12:00

I am working on sunday. We had a page in the magazine layout this month that was open. I think we got it filled by Saul at the ASC. I just nailed a picture on the wall here of one of the tradeshows i went to not long ago so i can see all the  inspired film and video makers signing up for the magazine.

You know, last time i was on a set was when i met with cinematographer Bill Clayer on Law and Order here in NYC at the Chelsea Piers Studios. It was awsome. I just love filmmaking even when it is video. lol. I have a great short idea i need to make happen. Hope everyone is well. let me hear from you.
