Yesterday, I had a major breakthrough for my upcoming movie, Nels. As background to the problem, the main setting of the movie is a children's home and the first place I contacted said there was no way I could film there because of state regulations and they didn't think anyone else would allow me to film at their facilities either.
However, someone recommended I look into this privately run organization that's actually a place where women in bad situations can come and live in a safe, structured environment with their children while being helped and trained to go back out on their own. So I did and yesterday I went out and talked with the director and some of the moms about the possibility of their children acting in the movie and filming at the place and got a very positive response. In the end, the director basically told me I could film anywhere I wanted on the facilities.
It's a beautiful location and pretty much just what I had in mind when I was writing the story.
I also just recently did a video for my college's track team which I posted photos from and plan to upload soon and have two upcoming projects with a freshman retreat and a healthy energy drink commercial.
