Nearly a year since graduation..

  • So I'm nearly approaching a year after graduating from Film School. I'm still looking for opportunities. I have been close to a few things and each one so far, has fallen through one way or the other. There doesn't seem to be a lot happening in the industry in my part of the world, probably due to the WFC. A lot of people are trying to start up their own companies and are way older than me, and they're still barely in a position which would be considered professional (and nor are they hiring or have internships avaliable). They still doing a lot of films for free and even still doing festivals like 48 Hour Film Project (which one would usually assume that that particular competition is for students and grad's like myself). Seeing these things happen, is somewhat discouraging.

At the moment, I'm trying to work out a way that will work. Money is still an obstacle; I can't move anywhere else that has the work and entry level positions I need to go for and nor can I afford at least a basic professional editing system (that being a Mac Pro, with all the FCP package and trimings) to get some work and exposure within the industry.

The good news is that I will soon be getting my driver's licence (different rules and regulations to the States, plus Film School got in the way, which is why I am finally getting it now), which I hope will be a big help in getting Runner/PA jobs.

I am considering to get more digital arts and multimedia qualifications so I can work in video games and multimedia work environments which are at least close to the industry and is a way to keep up skills and knowledge levels.

Anyway, that's all folks. Hello's and advice is always welcome here.
