Street Sounds Collaboration Project
Get ready, indie filmmakers!
Submit your short film inspired by sounds posted at www.thesmalls.com/streetsounds and get the chance to see your name in a full-page ad in Variety, win a new digital video camera, and get real industry exposure!
On February 8th, 2010, The Smalls will announce detailed info about its Street Sounds short film competition, including the four competition themes. We’re telling you now so you can get familiar with the site, perhaps upload some sounds recorded from your own neighborhood, and get your creative juices flowing!
Street Sounds (www.thesmalls.com/streetsounds) is a free new website where you can go to upload and download sounds by geographical location—such as the honking cabs of New York or a surfer waxing his board in San Diego. Every month, the biggest contributors of sounds can win a free iPod.
We are launching this contest, because we believe sounds can be used to trigger ideas and emotions that spark the creation of new films that otherwise couldn’t have existed. We want to challenge you to be the best filmmaker you can be by replicating some of the same conditions that helped spawn some of the world’s best-known works—Even Michelangelo had to make do with the marble that was handed to him to create the David!
Street Sounds was launched in association with Scion by The Smalls, a popular website where indie filmmakers, musicians and other artists can go to create, collaborate, promote and be discovered by decision makers in the film, TV and ad industries.
