Ice Sculptures - IJsbeelden Festival Zwolle 2012/2013

250,000 kilograms of ice and 250,000 kilograms of snow will be used to represent the fairytales of Little Red Riding Hood, Puss in Boots, Cinderella and Rumpelstiltskin, making it the single biggest ice sculpture festival in Europe.
This winter will see Zwolle’s city centre dominated by the Grimm brothers and their famous fairytales. Dozens of Dutch and international ice artists will be creating ice sculptures on the Rodetorenplein square, showing off their personal interpretation of the Grimm tales.
De Sprookjes van Grimm in ijs en sneeuw
Zwolle staat in 2012 helemaal in het teken van de gebroeders Grimm en hun wereldbekende sprookjes. De tweede editie van het IJsbeeldenfestival, dat opnieuw op het Rodetorenplein plaatsvindt, haakt op dit thema in. Een team van 40 internationale en Nederlandse ijskunstenaars gaat met behulp van 250.000 kilogram ijs en 250.000 kilogram sneeuw diverse 'Sprookjes van Grimm' uitbeelden.
Deze sneeuw- en ijswereld, die in een thermische tent van 2.000 m2 wordt tentoongesteld, is te bezichtigen van zaterdag 8 december 2012 tot en met zondag 27 januari 2013. Het IJsbeeldenfestival (http://www.ijsbeelden.org), met wederom IJshotel Lumen, is opnieuw de grote trekker van 'Winter in Zwolle', dat dit jaar weer groter en breder wordt gedragen dan bij de voorgaande editie.
