If you take a look at Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid - the opening scene(s) shows Butch (Paul Newman) entering the bank. He's confronted by security, guards, bars, sliding bolts, padlocks, window shutters/darkness. Without actually telling us, William Goldman shows exactly what the story, the movie, is all about. Butch's way of life as a bank robber is coming to an end. It's all there, from the beginning.
