Personal Details

  • About Me I proudly say that I started out with zero connections in the film/TV production industry. That's a badge of honor to me: having had to forge my own path. First by making home movies in my backyard and sharing them on YouTube with 2,000,000+ viewers. Then by working as a videographer on dozens of films and videos nationwide. And most recently, by writing the first book all about the entry-level lifestyles of production assistants in showbiz: "Gofers: On the Front Lines of Film and Television."

At Robert H. Goddard Middle School 202, I began developing technical skills by studying broadcast TV and hosting the New York City public TV show, Alive in Five. Then there were community theater stints as Romeo, Robin Hood, and perhaps most handsomely, Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny in The Phantom of the Opera. Back behind the scenes, I studied stage management at Christ the King Regional High School and received my dual B.A. in Film Production and TV/Radio at CUNY Macaulay Honors College at Brooklyn College.

Today, I'm my own boss at Passing Planes Productions LLC. I'm proudly self-employed as a videographer, video editor and writer and always bring my highest energy to every single project I'm a part of. Until we meet in person, here's wishing you safe travels,

    Daniel Scarpati

I completely understand. Similar to how John Badham spoke about his fantastic book in the scope of working out problems with actors, I'm sure that I could present a problem-solving angle... It's a nonfiction book all about film/TV production assistants, "Gofers: On the Front Lines of Film and Television!" If you have 90 seconds, I'm sure you'll enjoy this short trailer that explains more. (Watch this video to see and hear me talk--because aren't we all tired of reading stale emails and on-screen text?)

So far, the Queens Chronicle newspaper praised the book, and these are a few of the reviews that I'm humbled to have received from industry pros:
“'Gofers' is a must read for anyone interested in breaking into the motion picture industry. Full of how to, on-set knowledge, and peppered with anecdotes told through the eyes of veteran PA Daniel Scarpati, it is informative, fun, and tells it like it is.”

In case you're interested, I published my own book about filmmaking the other week. It's called "Gofers: On the Front Lines of Film and Television," and it's all about the world of film/TV/commercial production from the entry-level viewpoints of production assistants ("PAs" for short, a.k.a. "gofers"). I'll leave the trailer for the book below:

I welcome ALL comments, questions and feedback. Feel free to message me anytime.
