For me, this shoot was more than creating a set of action photos. It was a way to start exploring the visual language of the project before moving into the next stages of production.
I wanted to experiment with movement, lighting, framing, tension, and the way the human body tells part of a story without dialogue. Working with a kickboxer also gave me an opportunity to think about how I would approach certain moments from a cinematographer’s perspective. What should the camera see? When should we stay close? When should we pull back? How do we make movement feel physical and immediate?
The photoshoot was essentially a visual test for what is coming next. I’m using what I learned from the shoot to develop the look and approach of the project further.
I’ll be sharing more about the project as it develops. For now, here are a few frames... less

Having the opportunity to learn directly from industry experts, hear their experiences, and gain insights into different areas of filmmaking has been incredibly valuable.I am especially grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Kim and Jody along the way. Working with them has taught me so much, and I truly appreciate the trust, support, and opportunities they have given me over the years.18 years later, I am still grateful that I joined this community. Student Filmmakers has given me knowledge, inspiration, friendships, and experiences I will always value. Here’s to... less
Emmy- and ASC-nominated cinematographer... moreEmmy- and ASC-nominated cinematographer Anastas Michos, ASC, GSC, will lead a two-day masterclass in Athens on October 12–13, 2026. Built around the principle “Every Frame a Decision,” the seminar is one sustained conversation rather than a lecture series: an exploration of how light constructs character and place across four films and four genres.
I know this post is a few years old, but... moreI know this post is a few years old, but given it's still a relevant talking point I'm going to offer some pushback and challenge a few of the assertations made within. And since the OP's post is obviously AI-generated I'm going to be a little extra hard on them in some areas where deserved.First, whether or not something is "revolutionary" is entirely subjective. And even today I find it a much bigger claim than the evidence behind it can support. And here's why:AI generation models cannot create music in a vacuum, nor can they create anything outside the parameters of the music files and information which has been provided in their data sets. They're statistical models which are trained on enormous collections of existing human-created music (almost all of which was illegally obtained for said models). They take the information from these provided sources and learn patterns, melodies, harmonies, rhythmic ideas, and production results (this distinction will be important soon), and they generate... less
